Women in wellness | Louisa Drake

| MAR 8, 2018

In light of International Women's Day, we interviewed some of the most influential and inspirational women working in the wellness industry - and we were spoilt for choice! Founder & creator of the fitness and lifestyle brand Louisa Drake Method. In this interview, Louisa shares why she approaches fitness with a no-nonsense approach and why connecting with other industry professionals is key...

What does working in the wellness industry mean to you?

A great deal, I have a responsibility to educate people on how to achieve a healthier lifestyle. Health is wealth and knowledge is power. LDM is a sustainable way of looking at your long-term goals and how to achieve them. I like to cut through the faddy diets and nonsense side of the industry and help my clients become stronger, fitter and happier versions of themselves using my tried and tested methods.

Who are you inspired by and why?

I’m continually inspired by my clients for hitting their goals. They commit to sessions bright and early, late at night and are becoming more confident and stronger every time.

What tips would you give other women wanting to get into your business?

To be a fitness professional you need to study your craft hard. For me, a good base in anatomy is especially important and I suggest you gain as much experience teaching and training a range of different people. Connect to industry professionals and see if there are any opportunities to assist them, as this will really help you gain invaluable experience and help build connections. Teaching is a specific skill and this is a service lead industry so you need to hone your people skills. If you have a real passion for this industry and helping people, this will shine through.

What are your three top tips?

Celebrate your uniqueness, study your craft and prepare to adapt and dive in.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

It highlights that equality for all is what we ultimately need to be working towards.

We tick all these boxes, and more, so you can relax.

Quality, purity and efficacy in everything we make for you.
