Take care of your 'second brain' with this gut-loving drink from registered Nutritional Practitioner and recipe developer Neleta Winter.
Ingredients
-
1 apple: Apples are rich in pectin which is a soluble fibre. Pectin bypasses digestion in the small intestine and is then broken down by the friendly bacteria in your colon.
-
1/2 papaya: Papaya contains a digestive enzyme called papain, it helps the digestive process by helping break down protein fibres. Papain may also reduce symptoms of IBS as well as constipation and bloating.
- 1 tablespoon of Bare Biology's Pure Skinful Marine Collagen Powder: Rich in essential amino acids, collagen supports the health of the gut and can be beneficial to the intestinal tract.
- 1 tablespoon of almond butter: Almonds are loaded with fibre and can be beneficial for gut and digestive health.
- 1cm of fresh ginger: Ginger has active ingredients that help ease side effects of slow digestion, reduce nausea and improve overall digestion.
- 200ml milk
Method
- Cut the apple into cubes, removing the core and seeds (leaving the skin on).
- Cut the papaya and remove the seeds.
- Add the apple, papaya, almond butter, ginger and collagen to a blender along with the milk.
- Blend until smooth (add more milk if you want the drink to have a thinner consistency) and enjoy!
