High Strength Omega-3 Liquid Fish Oil

When we discovered a new refining process that let us concentrate the oil without compromising on quality, we went for it. We’ve always made the strongest fish oil in the UK, and we’re always looking for ways to keep it that way.

We’ll keep improving wherever we can, using the latest research without ever compromising on quality or sustainability. We’re an ambitious bunch. Hopefully it works even better for you, too.

It really depends on how much you take. There’s 150ml in each bottle of Life & Soul. Here’s the maths:

1 teaspoon or 5ml a day = 30 days

Half a teaspoon or 2.5ml a day = 60 days

A drop or 1ml a day = 150 days

A teaspoon or 5ml gives you 4000mg of omega-3 (2600mg EPA & 1180mg DHA).

We looked into this and decided it would create too much plastic waste.

Most people prefer to use their own spoons – either medicine spoons or standard household ones.

If we have lots of requests for this, we’ll think again.

We do include a handy plug which each bottle to help avoid spillage when pouring.

All of our fish oils are safe to take during pregnancy.

With Life & Soul Liquid, we've always recommended a lower dose, and even though it's now stronger, that guidance is still the safest way to get what you need.

We recommend taking half a teaspoon (2.5ml) rather than the full dose. This keeps you well within the safe limit. So you can finish off your bottle, then either stick with Life & Soul at the lower dose or switch to Mums & Bumps, which is made specifically for pregnancy.

As always, it’s a good idea to let your pregnancy specialist know about any supplements you’re taking.

Life & Soul liquid is a high-strength formula and may not be necessary for everyone, especially children.

There currently aren't official upper limit dosing guidelines for under 12s. This isn’t because omega-3 is unsafe, but because higher doses haven't been studied enough in younger age groups.

Research from Dr. Rachel Gow, a nutritional neuroscientist who specialises in omega-3 and child development, suggests that doses between 500mg and 1,000mg of combined EPA and DHA can be effective for children. Higher amounts are typically only used under the guidance of a healthcare professional.

That’s why we created Action Heroes: a lower-strength omega-3 with 500mg DHA and 100mg EPA per dose, designed to support developing brains which benefit from a higher DHA ratio. For older children who can swallow capsules, two Life & Soul mini capsules can also be a suitable option.

If you still prefer to use Life & Soul liquid, we recommend sticking to ¼ teaspoon for children under 12, unless advised otherwise by a healthcare professional.

We understand that every penny really counts right now, which is why it's so important to get value for money.

To put your mind at ease, the price of our omega-3s reflects the high quality, strength and purity of the oils. Our oils are in their natural triglyceride form, which is a more expensive form of fish oil but with far superior bioavailability. Many fish oils are oxidised and it’s one of the main reasons our founder started Bare Biology. We publish all our test results, including independent results from IFOS (International Fish Oil Standards), where you can see our oxidation levels are extremely low and well under the limits set by international bodies. On a cost per gram of omega-3 per dose, our products are better value for money than seemingly lower priced options. One teaspoon of Life & Soul Liquid has more omega-3 than 28 high-street brand capsules.

So if you're concerned about the monthly cost, you could always take less Life & Soul per day so it lasts longer. Even a quarter teaspoon would give you over a tin of sardines worth of omega-3s per day!

Most of the omega-3 benefits you’ll read about have come out of clinical or medical trials. The doses they use are normally much, much higher than typical fish oil supplements – similar to a dose of Life & Soul liquid. Here’s an example: the approved health claim for normal blood pressure is 3000mg of EPA & DHA each day. Life & Soul Liquid is the only product on the market that gives you this in a single spoonful. 

It depends on whether you need a higher dose or just daily maintenance and convenience. The liquid is ultra-strength and may suit you best if you’re managing ongoing physical or mental health issues, recovering from illness or injury, or have a low omega-3 index. It's also great for people who don't (or can't) eat fish regularly.

The capsules are ideal for maintaining healthy omega-3 levels day to day. It's the same quality oil, just in a lower dose, and for many, they're a more convenient option. If you're already getting some omega-3 through your diet (we love to see it), the daily or mini capsules are an easy, long-term way to keep your levels up.
