The perfect Christmas gift ideas for kids

The perfect Christmas gift ideas for kids

Every year my kids produce a list of things they’d like for Christmas.  Occasionally there’s something they genuinely want (usually involves the word Apple) but mostly it’s a list of all the tat they’ve seen advertised in the previous 24 hours – like one of those dreadful Hatchimons which are now like gold dust thanks to clever marketing.  Like little magpies, they flit from wanting one thing to another with no real conviction.  The list is ever changing and by the time Christmas arrives, you feel like you’ve bought nothing they really want.  Then there’s the joy of buying for nieces and nephews.  I normally plump for clothes as at least they’re useful and are not made of plastic landfill fodder.  So we asked our lovely friends over at Little Green Home to give us a helping hand and give us some of their top ideas.

Oogaa

The best gifts for kids are those that they love, but are also useful.  And the amazing Oogaa Baby range is just that!  This fab range of baby and kids’ cutlery, plates, bowls and teethers are totally free from plastic.  They’re made from super safe food grade silicone, so parents can be rest assured there’s no nasty chemicals like BPA leaching into their little one’s food.  The items are all dishwasher and microwave safe, so they’re hassle free in the kitchen.  But what really makes them stand out is the quirky details, including the range of gorgeous bright colours and the fun boat, train and truck shapes on the spoons.  Oogaa is suitable from weaning onwards, with our toddlers being big fans of the spoons as well as drawing on the washable placemats!

Nom Nom Aloe and Orange Blossom baby bath and starflower baby oil

This dream bath time duo from independent British brand Nom Nom makes a great gift for babies one month older and onwards.  Both the baby bath and oil are made using only Soil Association certified organic ingredients, and contain no added fragrances or nasty chemicals like parabens.  The super gentle formulas keep baby’s skin super soft.   They’re brilliant.  The starflower oil has helped our little ones with everything from dry skin to cradle cap.

Little Heart - Little Anemones

Little Heart is a Swedish company combining the finest GOTS certified organic cotton with the best in Scandinavian design.  Whilst we’re big fans of the whole range for Christmas, we’re loving their Little Anemones design.  We challenge you to just choose one item from the beautiful crib or cot bedding or the super soft blanket and cosy hooded towel.  They make the perfect gift for a new baby, or a toddler making the transition to big kid bedding.

From Babies With Love baby grows and blankets

From Babies With Love range of baby grows and blankets are decorated with quirky, yet cute, characters designed using vintage postage materials.  They’re made to work for both boys and girls, with only the finest organic cotton.  All profits made go to the SOS Children’s Programme that helps abandoned children globally, meaning they’re truly a gift that keeps on giving.
